The Rev. Dr. Edward L. Hunt has pastored Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for 25 years. Rev. Hunt is a professor at the New York Theological Seminary and coordinator of the masters program. He has served as state chaplain in various Departments of State such as mental hygiene and social services for 32 years. He holds a master in divinity and a doctorate in philosophy. Rev. Hunt, raised in Yonkers, is known for his commitment to excellence, and generosity. He is the fifth pastor of BMBC and under his leadership, not only did he initiate the annual Martin Luther King Commemorative Community , but also the building of the first new church in 100 years in the historic Wappingers Falls on the corner of South Avenue and Prospect Street.
“I first came to Bethel for the opportunity to preach not to pastor, and now 25 years later as the pastor I continue to use the pulpit as a place to teach God’s Word not as a political sword,” said Rev. Hunt, adding that BMBC is not a black church but a red brick church with a multicultural congregation.
He has a passion for the Lord, encourages spiritual and physical health and spreads God's Word where ever he goes.
